DAY 14–ALICANTE, SPAIN
Our tour was canceled, and truthfully, we were not unhappy with that. We were tired and we had 3 days in Barcelona coming up and we wanted to be ready to go nonstop from the moment we landed. So, we decided to sleep in and hang out in the ship. By now, you know what that means. Long, long happy hours! You would have thought by now that we had met just about everyone on the ship. And that is true. But we did meet some more interesting people on this, our last day on the ship. First up were Kevin and Linda originally from Westport, CT. They now live in South Tampa, near us. Linda is a retired opera singer. Keven makes a mean Old Fashioned. We may be hanging out with them in Florida sometime. Next up, were Kathy and Tim from Oregon. Kathy had the coolest purple highlights in her hair and very funky glasses. It is not every day that you see a sassy senior with purple highlights and funky glasses. Melissa admired both her hair and her glasses and well, now we were in active conversation mode. Turns out, the bling on the glasses are magnetic frames that can be swapped out. So cool!
We were already dressed for dinner and we had already packed our luggage and placed them in the hallway so that they would be in port waiting for us. The last act of the evening was a late dinner with Chuck and Barbara. It was so much fun. They are great conversationalists and genuinely nice people. We were sorry to see the night end. But, we needed a good night’s rest because we had big plans for the rest of our time in Europe.
