DAY 11–CADIZ, SPAIN

We arrived in the port of Cadiz, Spain early in the morning.  We were off the ship as soon as it was cleared so that we could board our bus to Seville, Spain.  We booked this trip through Spain Day Tours and we had a pretty solid experience.  It is about an hour and a half ride from Cadiz to Seville.  Our first stop was Plaza de Espana.  It was quite elaborate.  We got to watch a flamenco dancer, pose for some photos and admire the architecture.  Then we walked through the old Jewish Quarter, and got a guided tour of Real Alcazar Palace, which we were told is the oldest castle in Europe.  It is very interesting, with lush gardens and Moorish and Christian architectural influences. iIf you visit Real Alcazar Palace, watch your step. A lady on our tour tripped over a waterway and fell into a small fountain. Thankfully, the only thing she injured was her pride. We then did a little bit of shopping, grabbed some tapas and met up with our group to head back to the bus and back to the ship.  We were back onboard by 5:30 pm.  We had an uneventful evening and got prepared for the next day’s stop in Gibraltar.

This is where the woman in our group tripped and fell into the fountain. No, I did not take a photo of her. That would have been impolite.
