ITEMS TO ENHANCE YOUR CRUISE EXPERIENCE
Here are some useful things to bring on a cruise that you might not think about if you haven’t cruised before:
POWER STRIP—You have limited outlets in your cabin and multiple devices to power (cell phones, smart watches, cameras, earbuds, etc.). A power strip is a must but IT CANNOT HAVE A SURGE PROTECTOR. If you bring one, they will confiscate it. Why? Surge protectors are not allowed on cruise ships because they increase fire risk. The reason this danger exists is that a normal surge protector only breaks the circuit on the “live” electrical wire, whereas both the “live” and “neutral” wires carry current on a cruise ship.
LANYARD—Most cruise lines use your room key like a charge card. All your onboard purchases are made with it. The casino will hole punch your card so that you can attach it to a lanyard. So much easier to wear it on your neck.
MAGNETIC HOOKS—Cabin walls and ceilings are made of metal. Magnetic hooks are great places to hang hats, swimsuit coverups, lanyards. These hooks help decrease the clutter in your cabin.
TOWEL CLIPS—Amazon sells clips that attach your towel to the back of your beach chair so it won’t slide down.
REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE—great for shore excursion and for keeping your beverage of choice chilled in the sun.
SMALL BOTTLE OF DISH DETERGENT—for washing out that water bottle!
DOWNEY WRINKLE RELEASE- who wants to wear wrinkled clothes or iron them on vacation?
SUNSCREEN AND INSECT REPELLANT—you will be gouged if you need to buy either one on the ship or in port.
EXTENSION CORD—If you need any electronic device plugged in at your bedside (CPAPS come to mind), you will need an extension cord because most cabins don’t have outlets near the bed.
There are lots of other useful things to bring. Feel free to add your favorites in the comment section.
I always bring an over the door shoe storage for longer cruises. We use for shoes and bath products as there is no counter space. Also, toosh wipes. That toilet paper on ships is crap!
Those are good tips Tanna. The over the door storage is a force multiplier!
