Loretta’s 80th Birthday Cruise!

We always like to have multiple vacations in the hopper so that we have something to look forward to as we go about our day to day obligations.  Our second vacation in 2023 will occur at the end of November when we celebrate Melissa’s mom’s 80th birthday!  There will be 7 of us on this adventure.  Melissa’s sister and her husband, Melissa’s mom and dad, Melissa and me, and Melissa’s aunt who will be journeying thousands of miles to Florida from the west coast.

This trip will be another Holland America cruise.  It is a 7 day cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale.  It has 4 ports : Half Moon Cay, Ocho Rio (Jamaica), Grand Cayman and Cozumel.  We got a great deal.   We opted for the “Have it All” option that includes drinks, WiFi, one night of specialty dining, a shore excursion credit and an On Board Credit (OBC) of $275.  There will be a future post on how to determine whether or not to purchase “Have It All” or “Cruise Only” fares. 

The last family cruise we took was for my in laws’ 50th wedding anniversary and we brought all the grandkids on that one.  My in-laws insisted they did not want to be the center of attention, which drove me to make bright orange tee shirts for everyone and have our travel agent provide the package that gave the whole party VIP treatment, strolling past the long lines to board.  Turns out they didn’t mind being the center of attention!
